2. The city Hamirpur, H.P is up to 10 degree hotter than the surrounding rural areas. Reasons that contribute to the UHI effect of the city are the road network, paved areas in the multiple institutions that are a part of the city. Besides this the other human activities that majorly run the city add to the UHI effect. 3. If I take part in the decision making process to improve the livability of the city in terms of the UHI effect I shall propose pavements to be converted into semi-permeable ones with diverse patches of terracotta tiles, grass and mud for the water penetration and evaporation to enhance cooling effect. Also, I may propose the revitalization of the Gandhi Chowk Street which is the main spine on which the city breathes with organized façade and equal plinths to all the shops of the street. 4. No, UHI effect isn’t concerning policy making in my area.
