Stocks are all around us. Stocks represent amounts such as accumulations that increase and decrease over a given time. Stocks can represent physical materials, such as the amount of water in a reservoir, the power in a battery bank, the storage of foods or abstract concepts, such as a level of happiness in a society. In Auroville we have, amongst many others, the following stocks: Food in storage warehouses, water in reservoirs, power in battery banks And the following flows: Food distribution to the markets and stores, water supply in pipelines and the flow of power to end users via the power grid. The photo shows a solar thermal steam generator for the stock and flow of steam for cooking purposes.
