2. Think and comment on the following example: Habitats of a certain neighborhood don’t feel safe when they walk in their neighborhood in the evening and during the night. You are working for the local government and want to solve this problem through improvement of the public spaces. How would you start-up a Citizen Design Science project? I would first check the area in detail in order to understand the Standing Situation and detect the zones of dangers. For example check by the so far given data where assaults happened, check what street situation, is there enough lightening etc. is found in these areas, also I would check how the area is used, is there shops, offices, living etc. This way it is possible to find out what time of the day people walk by. Important is also public transport, where are bus or tram stations to be found. In a second step I would do a survey among the people maybe via Mail or App to find out what time of the day people move in this specific area, how long they stay where, which ways they use, which kind of transportation they choose. Also I would ask which area they do not like to walk. In the next step the collected data showing the behavior of the residents can be compared with the standing situations. This allows to conclude e.g. 1. In certain areas more Lanterns should be installed 2. Planning of shops and restaurants to give more night life 3. More security could be installed (gated community) 4. Transportation routes could be changed ( like moving bus station) The Foto shows an example of a gated community
