"Construction used to be a localised activity, but with the advancement of construction processes and construction materials almost every building contains components of a globalized economy." We encourage you to upload a photograph that shows the involvement of globalized economy in building construction. Photographs should be taken by you and should depict the answer to the question. The post should also contain a short explanation showing the connection between the image and the country of origin of the particular material. The building materials used in Los Angeles are imported from all of the world. Plastics and PVCs come from China. Electrical wiring can come from India and Taiwan. Various sensors come from Japan. A large portion, if not all, of our wood comes from Canada. Some metals used in building come from Mexico, while aluminium and copper materials come from Germany. All of these items together paint Los Angeles as a city that was build on globalized economy and development. A secondary point that is important to consider, is that the architecture and art style of many parts of central Los Angeles (and Hollywood) are labeled as "International Style." This originates from places like Germany and has major influences on many facilities. Simultaneously, many of the building and house in central Los Angeles have influences from East Asia or Mexico. It may be difficult to distinguish from the picture, but many homes and apartments will have a modern "zen" appearance or a traditional "mission" style from influence of Catholicism in the old days. Therefore, not only the material selection, but also the design converge to have a very globalized outcome. http://atlas.media.mit.edu/en/visualize/tree_map/hs92/import/usa/show/all/2015/ http://www.visual-arts-cork.com/architecture/international-style.htm
