1. Which are your top livability criteria? political stability safety sanitation standards job opportunities culture 2. Why do we live where we live? Bangkok, Thailand (2007 - current) responsibility: taking care of family, family business familiarity and practicality: having connections and friends; used to the way of life here job: having a preferred job, and gathering working experience in order to move and work elsewhere later low cost: low cost of living resting and sense of belonging: having lived abroad half my life, it is time to come back to the home country and rest here for a while, because the home country is just simple to live in without hassle (racism, own house, long distance traveling) 3. To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? personal ideal livability criteria score: 68/100 political stability ( 12/20) safety ( 12/20) sanitation standards ( 12/20) job opportunities ( 14/20) culture ( 18/20) general livability score: 80/100 4. What would you change? the biggest problem in bangkok is transportation and traffic. although the bts and mrt (skytrain and subway, both requiring tickets that do not transfer with one another) have become and easier option for city dwellers, traffic still consumes a large amount of time of bangkok people (a bangkok person spends an average 1.5hr to 3hr per day in a vehicle). the number of cars rises overwhelmingly in contrast to new roads, bridges etc. and highways being built (a bangkok family of 3 might have as much as 3 cars; at least each family owns 2 cars). my solution would be to raise the tax of transportation, enforce more strictness in road rules and law, increase the cost of parking and annex more property and land to enlarge roads. 5. Why do we move? hong kong, china sar (transportation, safety, practicality, culture, international connection) onomichi, japan (culture, safety, transportation, climate, environment) kyoto, japan (culture, safety, transportation, climate, environment) hiroshima, japan (culture, safety, transportation, climate, environment) seattle, usa (environment, recreation possibilities, transportation, job opportunities, environment)
