In the attached picture, I have visually transportation alternatives from my home to work. Both routes are the same but the means of transport are different. While taking a personal car or taxi, there is no waiting time apart from traffic, unlike public transportation that takes some time for the buses to arrive/be full. There is also no need for walking. Private cars offer more comfort and take a shorter time as there is no need to stop at bus stops and change vehicles. That being said, there is little wonder that private cars are generally preferred. The only reason people sometimes opt for public transport, apart from vehicle faults, is the terrible traffic that is experienced on the return trip. NOTE: The travel time varies at different times of the day. For example, leaving home at 5am in a private car takes about 30-40mins, following the exact same route!
