For this exercise I have chosen to start with my travel options from home to work based on the options provided by Google Maps. 1. Car Time: 23 min The travel time for this option is good, and the distance covered is relatively long (16,7 km), as the highways are north-east of the city, while I need to go south-east. As I don’t own a car, I hardly use this option. In the morning there is a lot of traffic, which increases the stress level of taking the car. 2. Public Transport + Walking Time: 44 min I sometimes use this option which is possible every 15 minutes. The public transport means used are a tram line and then the train. After the train there is 18 minutes of walking to my work. This is a very comfortable option and good for the environment as well. 3. Bike Time: 43 min A very comfortable and healthy option. There are only 2 traffic lights and a lot of dedicated cyclist roads. The only down-side is crossing the city and traffic of The Hague. On a racing bike, travel time can be reduced to 30 minutes. 4. Combination Bike-Train-Bike Time: 30 min This is the option I take almost every day. 8 minutes by bike, then 6 minutes by train and then another 8 minutes by bike. Including the time to park and get my bicycles, this option has a very good travel time and is also healthy and good for the environment.
