Step 1: Most livable cities according to my knowledge; 1- Vancouver, 2- Toronto, 3- Sydney, 4- Melbourne, 5- Dubai. Step 2: Characterisitcs of a livable city: 1- Great environmental quality, 2- Outstanding quality of social services, 3- Appropriate climate and geoghraphy for living, 4- 100% utilization of renewable energy, 5- Easy accessibility. Step 3: For Istanbul, these characteristics are achievable but currently, only the 3rd characteristic applies in terms of its natural being. As a built city Istanbul is far from being a livable city in terms of other characteristics. But this doesn't mean that it is impossible to turn the city into a livable city in terms of the characteristics listed above. To achieve this, the factors which make Istanbul not livable must be countered such as eminent domain, the state's overpower on urbanization. The photo represents a hobby garden in the southeastern city of Gaziantep in Turkey that provides local people to enjoy leisure time and fresh food. This is a good example in terms of being good social service.
