As I do not have too much of experience with livability in cities worldwide I have to focus on the northern and western European cities. Even here I can only judge based on my impression from short term visits. Those are the cities that I liked the most when I visited them Amsterdam Munich Copenhagen Praque Vienna Safety Accessibility (road infrastructure, public transport and outside connections) Public institutions (health, education,…) Environment (cleanliness of the city and nature areas) Charm Personally I do not like to live in a big crowded and busy city, I rather prefer to live in a small or medium sized city. The small city of Sonderborg where I currently live and my hometown in Germany are below 100.000 citizen and both fulfill my requirements of a livable city. I think it is important to have good infrastructures, I like to be able to use the bike to move around or even walk if possible. Of course a car is convenient but considering the environment and my own fitness the bicycle is a great alternative. Most important is to feel safe and welcome. In large cities like Hamburg or Berlin I often feel like getting lost or being captured. I like to visit those large cities, they are impressive but I have problems to feel comfortable in a long term and miss the calm and relaxed atmosphere which I have at home.
