1. My Top 5 livability criteria 1- Environment 2- Safety 3- Sanitation Standards 4- Political Stability 5- Health care 2. Why do we live where we live? I am from Japan and lived in Melbourne for 5 years and moved to Sydney 1 year ago because of work but also I chose to move to Sydney from Melbourne. Why I chosen to move to Sydney is 1- I was a little bored in Melbourne 2- I wanted to explore more life in Australia 3- Expected to do something new But basic 5 reasons why I live in Australia are 1- Great environment. close to nature. 2- Diversity of different nationalities. 3- Relax work environment. 4- Low density. 5- High salary 3. To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? Environment (100) Safety (100) Sanitation Standards (100) Political Stability (70) Health care (90) Scale of my own city Environment (70) Safety (90) Sanitation Standards (90) Political Stability (70) Health care (50) It is difficult to give a score to the last two, political stability and health care as I am not citizen here in Australia so that I don't have a right to vote and can not take any benefit of national medical care. However I believe Australian has been in a stable economical condition and providing different benefit to citizens. The attached photo is a view from my balcony. Where I live is a great area which is near to the shops, cafes, parks and beaches. Not really cultural but neat, tidy, and peaceful environment. On the other hand, my opinion about Sydney CBD is not really high grade. Clouded and traffic is awful, very expensive,, not friendly to bicycles and pedestrians, and no night life even in center of the city on weekdays and especially Sunday night it is a ghost town. 4. What would you change? I would like to first change infrastructure and transportation. It is not friendly to pedestrians, drivers, and bicycles in CBD and not enough train lines to travel around NSW and we still heavily need to rely on cars and taxi. Currently NSW has been building and expanding light rail line around CBD and further so hopefully it will give more flexibility and options for traveling. 5. Why do we move? 1-Vienna 2-Berlin 3-Amsterdam 1- Environment 2- Culture 3- Education 4- Job Opportunity 5- Work/Lifestyle Except environment, 4 qualities are different from my top 5 criteria. (Safety, Sanitation Standards, Political stability, health care). All 3 cities are in Europe. I am always attracted to different culture and learn different way of living and seek my ideal life. At this moment, terrorism causing lack of safety in Europe and immigration is a big challenge not only EU but other counties including Australia. in addition I really hope that Japan will accept more immigrants but not uncontrollable amount at one time but adequate amount with a sure system and management to improve and develop our cities and future.
