The city majorly has two components - 1.the fortified old city with major business hub. 2.the new development outside the fortification. - mainly consists of residential complexes, depended on the old city for services and employment. Accessing the old city- 1. the main gateway is the Jatpura gate, it controls both the entrance and exit to the old city. 2. the old city has two major roads one for entrance and one for exit each, separated by commercial and residential complexes, and interconnected by few lanes. Studying the photograph- visible aspects- 1. one can understand that the major mode of transport is 2 wheeler. 2. place of worship, commercial and residential complexes are randomly positioned along the two main roads. 3. roads are narrow enough for smooth functioning of public transport inside the old city. 4. no proper parking areas, and footpath for walking traffic. 5. overhead wiring for electricity, raising concern over safety of the people. 6. uni directional traffic flow. Invisible aspects- 1.uni-directional traffic ensure less congestion on such narrow roads but it increases the travel distance to greater extent. 2.the purpose of visits of people other than the office hours are for basic needs such as medicine and grocery.resulting in excessive traffic flow which can be reduced easily. discussing the invisible aspect 2 - since the width of road and area of old-city are limited, it is necessary to decentralize all the services and business hubs from the old city to the new developments. -this will reduce the traffic flow into the narrow roads of old-city. -this will ensure that the fortification walls and gates need not be destroyed for future traffic needs. -creating self sustaining pockets in the city with provision of basic needs, business and residence. this will reduce the travel distance.
