The picture above is of the interior of 'Amdavad ni Gufa', an underground gallery inspired by the concept of caves and subdued lighting, designed by Architect B.V.Doshi to display the works of artist M.F.Husain. The Architect and Artist in question are one of India's most popular, who creations adhere to and reflect the idiosyncrasies of the region and its culture, while interpreting it with the modernist and globalized elements. Here the 'Gufa' uses ferrocement concrete, a material that originated in Belgium, to represent a regional concept of cave and lighting.
