Hi! I took this photo during an international workshop i did in April, in Filadelfia, Paraguay. The house in construction is situated in a indigenous community, called Guarani. The community lives in the proximity of the city of Filadelfia, Paraguay, though, like the other communities, prefers to keep a certain distance and closeness when it comes to the other populations present in city. I chose this picture because it is a good example of globalized construction. The indigenous tribes have been leaving in this territory for many centuries, using local materials and techniques in order to build their homes and communities. Nowadays, every building we can see there contains components of a borrowed architecture style and technique of construction, completely different than what they are used to and what they know. They weren't even sure from what country the materials were coming, but it was already a normal thing to forget their traditional culture and even materials which, actually, surround them. It is an obvious example of how construction changed from being a localized activity to a globalized economy, construction materials and components not having any connection with the reality of the situation and the sustainability and needs of the context.
