The most important include: Agriculture: Agriculture dominates the Honduran economy , supplying over 70% of jobs and over a half of all merchandise export earnings. Water: Honduras has abundant water resources as the country is located in the tropics. The important rivers on the pacific side of the country inlcude Rio Choluteca which supplies water to the capital city of Tegucigalpa, and the Rio Lempa. All together the rivers on the pacific slope convey the other 13% of surface water run off in Honduras. Toral surface water run off is estimated to be 87m3 per year with 16% of this water leaving Honduras for neighboring countries, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatemala.
