1. What are the dominant fossil fuels used in your country? The dominant fossil fuel used in the UK are Oil, Gas, and Coal. 2. Where are the dominant fossil fuels mainly used for in your country? The Main uses of fossil fuels in the UK are in the sectors of Transport, Other, and Industry. 3. It is your task to create a new policy in order to improve the environmental friendly and sustainable sources and consumption of energy of your country. How would you do that? Think of how you can improve the sources and the consumption of energy. Although the UK is comprised of a series of islands, much of the fuel used comes from Oil, Gas, and Coal. In order to improve and create better policy related to fuel production and consumption, and create more environmentally friendly and sustainable sources i would encourage the investigation of alternative fuel sources such as wind and water. wind farms such as those located in other European countries could produce sustainable energy which could be used by businesses and to power alternative forms of transport. the UK, and London specifically already has taxes related to fuel usage such as congestion taxes for cars which only reduce usage for people who cannot afford to pay the tax, and do not necessarily reduce overall pollution and people still need to travel by bus or train. if alternative fuel sources were secured, and energy could come from wind and water rather than oil and coal for transport, more electric vehicles could be used, and cities would be less polluted. Grants and subsidies could be introduced to assist businesses who want to use sustainable fuel sources, and well as subsidies for purchasing electric vehicles.
