1. Check the temperature differences in US cities : Because I am not from the United States of America, plus I work outside my country, I will compare here the temperatures of American cities that I found on the attached site. The top 10 cities with the most intense summer urban heat islands (average daily urban-rural temperature differences) over the past 10 years are: • Las Vegas (7.3°F) • Albuquerque (5.9°F • Denver (4.9°F) • Portland (4.8°F) • Louisville (4.8°F) • Washington, D.C. (4.7°F) • Kansas City (4.6°F) • Columbus (4.4°F) • Minneapolis (4.3°F) • Seattle (4.1°F) 2. Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area? I live in a semi-tropical area in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the climate here is known for its high temperature especially during the summer. There are no rural areas close by, but surrounded by dry desert places. However, when comparing temperatures in surrounding desert areas and temperatures in the heart of cities, we find that the temperature is high and significantly in the heart of the city because of the large use of cars, air conditioners and the presence of some industrial crafts. Which is derived from the greenhouse gas helps to be a dome thermal and high temperature cities, and that can be observed and particularly strong if moved between the two regions (heart of the city / desert region) 3. Which are the measures you would propose? High temperature in the city is not allowed to dispense mobility by cars or dispensing air conditioners. But it is possible to find other solutions that may be useful in reducing the impact of high temperatures of the heat generated by the dome, such as: * Increasing the establishment of green areas * Search for renewable energy means * Rationalization in the use of cars and air conditioners * Conducting many studies in earnest in recognizing the amount of temperature changes 4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? Since I live in a country that is not my main country, I do not have a strong knowledge of these policies. But from my studies and knowledge of some internal matters will clarify some points: * The city is trying to build a public transport system to reduce the use of cars. * The city has established many parks. * Try to develop a good layout of new neighborhoods in order to reduce the use of energy and the impact of heat.
