The main fossil fuels used in the Netherlands are oil, followed by gas. The main use of oil is by far for transportation. Gas is used for energy. In order to reduce fossil fuel consumption it is essential to change the transportation sector, not only by reducing road traffic (both private cars and transport of goods), but by heavily investing in the conversion to electric fuelled cars, or even exploring possibilities like solar fuelled cars and trucks. Another important action to be taken concerns mopeds, or small two stroke engine motorcycles; these pollute and generate an incredibly high amount of carbon emmissions, unproportionate to their volume; there are unfortunately millions of mopeds in the Netherlands, all of them freely enjoying the right to drive in bycicle paths, across parks and around children, polluting our air and some even endangering our safety due to fast driving, alongside with high noise pollution. Mopeds have been given carte blanche to invade bycicle paths, and it is essential that they all convert to electrical mopeds, compulsory. Another sector to adress are garden appliances; Netherlands is very green, but all the garden companies use all kind of fossil fuelled appliances, such as lawn mowers, leave blowers, grass trimmers, etc, all of which are highly pollutant, damaging our health and generating carbon emmissions, contrary to the point of having a green space!!!
