To avoid this fuel wastage the traffic lights can be fitted with time indicators which will inform the vehicle drivers the time taken for the traffic signal to turn green, thereby they can switch off their ignition and save precious fuel and also reduce carbon emission b)Non usage of bill boards leads to revenue loss for the city councils. This is seen from the some of the blank bill boards in the traffic signal.This may be due to the delay in information reaching the city council on the blank bill boards or the requisite permissions for the new advertising agency to put up their advertisements or the lack of knowledge with the advertising agencies on the space available for putting out advertisements . Creating a mobile app with location details of bill boards with space available and linked to the city council data base will help advertisement agencies to look up space and book their spaces thereby reduction in revenue loss for city council. Increase in revenue for city council can be invested for citizen welfare measures.
