FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2017-05-26 by Abhishek Kumar
This is the image of a street in Udaipur city, this works as a secondary road. Main road is just across the buildings, which has a high traffic volume all around day. From this image we can see the amount of vehicles parked and the activity pattern. The front of the buildings open to main roads, what we see here is the back of those shops. This road is used for the loading and unloading of the goods. Visible data can be derived in the form of vehicles parked, amount of traffic movement, services, the urban fabric of the area. From these various visible information we can identify invisible information- 1-The historical study of the buildings and urban forms from building. 2-Traffic pattern and required streetscapes. From 1st point, the buildings of these areas had historical context and were developed by adopting historical features which also were suitable to the climate of the area. Contemporary architecture of the city now follows the GLOBAL architecture(modern), which is less competent to the climatic conditions. So, for a city to be able to sustain in coming future the building should respond to the climate to eliminate the need of the energy required to mechanically make the habitats livable.
