1. Oil, coal and gas products are the dominant fuels used in the United States. Some of these are exported but that amount in minimal. 2. Most of the energy used is used on transportation. This accounts for almost 1/3 of the energy consumption. Followed by power loss from power stations. 3. To improve on this I would first push for a policy of moving us to an electric fleet. This would be and incremental process but could lessen the amount of energy used by fossil fuels. For this to work we would also need to generate power more efficiently with renewable resources. So the country would need to invest in cleaner infrastructure such as wind and solar power generation. It would not make sense to move cars from being gas operated to coal operated. Investment in innovation to deal with efficiency would need to also take place. Almost as much power is lost from the power losses at power stations. Finding a way to capture this and store it or disperse the power to allow other stations to use it would save some energy. Again this would need to be a big project our infrastructure is not connected with regards to power and doing this would make sense. Along with investments in thee two problem areas I would like to see some serious funding for clean energy project expansion and implementation as well as innovation all around. Schools should have the money available to add to the body of research to find clean renewable energy. Who knows maybe the best form of power has not been taped yet.
