My Five most livable cities that I experienced are (with the year I lived in): 1- Bethlehem, Palestine (2000) 2- Benghazi, Libya (1990-1995) 3- Amman, Jordan (1996-1999) 4-Jericho, Palestine (2000-2012) 5-Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (2012-now) My Five characteristics that make a city livable: 1- Availability of essential life resources (like food, water and energy). 2- Climate 3- Quality of Architectural and Urban Spaces. 4- Availability and Quality of Urban Transit means ( on Foot, by bicycle and by Car or bus). 5- Social Safety and Security. Status of Riyadh: 1- Availability of essential life resources: Average score, -Should focus on agriculture more to provide better quality food with less price. -Should find other means for providing drinking water with proper infrastructure -Should develop alternative energy sources to reduce power cost for the long term. 2- Climate: Poor Score, -Should invest in having green belts around the city to reduce the impact of dust and sand storms. -Should focus on low water consuming trees on larger scales distributing all around the city to enhance O2 production. 3- Quality of Architectural and Urban Spaces: Poor Score, -Should adapt proper architectural style that suits the geographical location of Riyadh. -Should reduce the allowed building percentage to reduce density. -Should invest more in having larger green areas all around the city. 4- Urban Transit: Poor Score, -Should invest in better and wider range and affordable public transport. -Should change City look to accommodate Cycling lanes in sidewalks. -Should scatter points of interest to make them easier to reach on foot. 5- Social Safety and Security: Average Score, -should adapt strict traffic control system to prevent bad drivers from causing unforced accidents.
