By Titus Venverloo: 1. What are the dominant fossil fuels used in your country? Use www.iea.org/sankey to discover it (Hint: e aware of the flow of the energy in the Sankey diagram. Sometimes a part of the production of energy goes to the export of a country. Exported energy won't be consumed by your country itself). The dominant fuels used in the Netherlands are oil products, which are imported, and gas, which is partly imported and partly produced in the country.Significant is that most of the fossil fuels coming into the country, are exported at a later stage, this shows that the Netherlands is more a trading nation than a nation that uses a lot. 1. Where are the dominant fossil fuels mainly used for in your country? (e.g. transport, industry, non-energy use etc.) The main use for the fuels that we use is categorised as other, in this case that also includes the usage of residences. 2. It is your task to create a new policy in order to improve the environmental friendly and sustainable sources and consumption of energy of your country. How would you do that? Think of how you can improve the sources and the consumption of energy. My plan would be to give tax cuts for citizens that install solar cells on their roof, this will stimulate the citizens to take care of their own energy supply, and also make them more aware of energy generating processes. Besides this, it will help to reduce CO2 emissions, and help to increase the energy production of renewable energies.
