I live on the University of Twente campus, which is very nice and green. This means that my commute is very short and enjoyable. As in the Netherlands, almost everyone has bikes and the infrastructure is there for cycling to be safe, I cycle 5 minutes across campus green areas/parks to get to class in the morning. If I did not have a bike, I could walk the same route in the morning but it would take 10 minutes. Finally there are buses travelling around campus that would bring me to class with a bigger detour. Obviously it is nicer being out side in parks than on the road in a bus, but the bus journey would take 3 minutes, with a 2 minute walk to the bus stop. However, I would have to pay to ride the bus, which makes it a lot less appealing, even on rainy days.
