Module 6 - compulsory Exercise: energy flows 1.What are the dominant fossil fuels used in your country? Three fossil fuels petroleum, natural gas, and coal have provided a big portion of total U.S. energy consumption. 2.Where are the dominant fossil fuels mainly used for in your country? (e.g. transport, industry, non-energy use etc.) Transportation and industry are mainly used in the U.S. The use of fossil fuels by both private and public transportation systems in America is so high. The easy availability fossil fuels played a major role. Also, rapid development of petrochemical, automotive and trucking industries and airlines industry in the United States has further increased the nation’s dependence on fossil fuels. 3.It is your task to create a new policy in order to improve the environmental friendly and sustainable sources and consumption of energy of your country. How would you do that? Think of how you can improve the sources and the consumption of energy. I believe educating people about the importance of living an environmentally friendly life would be so helpful. The more people share an awareness of the importance of the environment, the more we can do to conserve it. We encourage people to use public transportation by providing better and more reliable services. The other way would be promote renewable energy resources such as solar systems. Solar energy has become an alternative form of energy for homes and commercial buildings. We should raise public awareness of the benefits of solar energy and make solar energy systems more affordable. Currently, only a very small percentage of Americans have made the switch to solar energy. However, by offering solar tax breaks and financial incentives, we would be able to encourage homeowners and developers.
