Stocks and flows in the city of Canterbury in the United Kingdom, Konrad Pawlaczyk People. Canterbury is a student city in which approximately half of its inhabitants are local people and the rest are students. Hence, its population keeps changing throughout the year.( flow) Obviously, the number if people in the city is much smaller during holidays, as most of students come back home. Nevertheless, from this perspective it is fairly constant. Canterbury is also a touristic place to visit, therefore the number of people in this city changes throughout a week. Most of tourists come here on weekends, thus the city center is busy on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and quiet for the rest of the week. 2. Knowledge. Canterbury has two universities which both have libraries (stock). The universities are buying more and more books every year, hence the number of books increases (flow). There are also researchers, and students that produce new knowledge, discover new things related to science, engineering, and different fields. The universities store the documents in their libraries both physical and online, therefore the amount of information and knowledge keeps increasing. 3. Density. The density of people in Canterbury changes throughout a year and week. There are places that usually have a very high population density like the university campus which is situated away from the city center. However, the density is much lower in summer as students leave this place for their home. The density of people in town change throughout every week as well. In week-days city center tends to be relatively quiet, whereas every weekend students and tourists come to the city center thus, the density on campus decreases and the density in the city centre increases.
