Hello, my name is Rahma. I’m from Tunisia. 1-The main UHI effects that I can identify in my area : I live in a city called Sfax, it is the second biggest city in Tunisia. It is located near to the Mediterranean Sea. The climate of Sfax is dry and relatively hot. The average annual temperature is + 18 ° C, and the annual precipitation is 234 mm. The average temperature of the coldest month, January, is + 5.8 ° C. The average temperature of the hottest month, august, is + 32.2 ° C. There is a big difference between the temperature in the center of the city and near the sea. This is 2 pictures of the city center and the sea: 2-The measures I would propose: To reduce UHI effect in the city I would propose to create more green spaces. Another measure is increase public transports instead of private cars. And more important, use green means of transportation: electric cars, bicycles. Finally, try to reduce polluting emissions from industries located in the city. 3-Policies in my community that are planned to reduce the UHI effect are just being to become important. In fact, this issue was neglected until recently and ecological and climatic issues haven’t been the major cause of concern.
