Question 1: Which are your top livability criteria: Answer: 1. Job opportunities 2. Safety 3. Climate 4. Environment 5. Transportation --------------------------------------------------------- Question 2: Why do we live where we live? Answer: I live in Stuttgart, mainly because of the following 5 reasons (not related to the official criteria for livable cities): 1. I have studied there and built a network of friends who also still live there. 2. I love old houses (Altbau) of which there are a lot in Stuttgart. The standard is not too high, unless they are renovated (and very expensive). The reason is the aesthetics and the style of the looks when you walk along the streets. 3. My husband is born here and his father lives nearby. This is very comfortable for him and for us. 4. Stuttgart is a fast and dynamic city, people are working a lot. That corresponds to my lifestyle. 5. The Swabian way seems a bit odd to me sometimes, but the people are very down-to-earth and honest, which I really like. --------------------------------------------------------- Question 3: To what extent does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? Answer: Scores between 1 and 100 ... 1. Job opportunities: 100 2. Safety: 85 3. Climate: 50 4. Environment: 40 5. Transportation: 90 General score of livability: 70 --------------------------------------------------------- Question 4: What would you change? Answer: I would ban the traffic based on combustion engine as far as possible from the city center, because of the severe pollution problem, the noise and the lacking parking space. This would improve the environmental and space issues. Then I would plant trees and grass along the streets. --------------------------------------------------------- Question 5: Why do we move? Answer: Three places I would like to live and five qualities of these places ... Cities: Hamburg, Copenhagen, Oslo Qualities: 1. pleasant climate (water/the Sea; never too hot), 2. high safety standards, 3. space (streets, houses, places are not so dense), 4. stylish culture and inspirational surroundings, 5. more nice, positive and open people
