Visible information: This picture shows an avenue of Belo Horizonte at night just after a rain, full of cars going in one direction and just a few going in the other direction, with no one walking. Invisible information: 1- Many people in Belo Horizonte work at the nearby city (Contagem) since they were all coming from that direction during late afternoon peak hour, and very few do the opposite, since almost no car was going in the other direction. 2- People in Belo Horizonte live in a culture that embraces the automobile and don't mind driving gasoline cars and poluting the planet. Knowing this invisible information, we could plan the city to allow people to live where they work, offering infrastructure and all the services people need at Contagem so they wouldn't have to live in Belo Horizonte and work in Contagem. We could also start privileging other transportation methods more efficient that wouldn't jam the traffic.
