1-Barcelona 2-Zurich 3-Paris 4-London 5-Lisbon My personal ranking answers the question: "Where do you would like to live if you have to change your city?" First of all is the atmospere that you breath in the city; this is a subjective index. Second, absolutely the beauty of the city in terms of artistic view; subjective index Third, the chance that local people give to you in the day by day life; subjective index Fourth, an easy way to move, objective index. Fifth, the possibility to work, objective index. Rome, Italy #1, worsened in the last 20 years, probably due to the complex problem of the diminishing importance of the capitals caused by EU. #2, not completely appreciated and not well mantained. #3, may be this factor survives well. #4, quite dramatic, too private traffic and very bad public transport; beutiful places are ruined by the cars; in the shot you can see a fantastic little church, S. Maria of the Peace, with inside masterworks of Raffaello, Peruzzi, Bramante and others; well, the road and the plaza are become a parking! #5, despite everything, an intellectual job could still probably found. The medicine for the 5 disease of Rome is twice: to get a new role in the world (more autonomy from Italian Republic) and a new housing crashes/recontructions and what from it descends (basically a new public transport plan). The rest will come autonomously, without interventation. Some thaughts I noted that my personal ranking is mainly influenced by the presence of water and greatly by subjective factors that can't be standardized; nevertheless they are the most important factors that generally people share (se below). I never saw a long queue to live in Vienna or Vancouver, I saw a lot of people that happily live in London, Paris, California, generally mentioned lower in the rankings. Moreover, beacuse of I am italian, I avoided a couple of italian cities.
