Although Australian government policies for climate change and emissions reduction have been slow to emerge, mired in intra & inter-party ideological conflict and poorly enacted, at the local level, individual property owners have not waited for government to change. Change is being forced upon policy makers by the construction of their own renewable energy systems. Collie is a small regional town that ironically is the hub of coal fired generation for the state of Western Australia. Even in this location, small businesses like the hotel pictured here have installed solar power generation.
