Uploaded on 2017-04-17 by Daniel Diaz Reogon
The picture illustrates a mostly sunny day at the Bournemouth coast in United Kingdom. Citizens are walking along the promenade beside the sandy beach. It is also visible the contrast between the green area on the top of the cliff and the city centre ‘s skyline at the back of the picture. The natural sources produce a huge amount of data: level of humidity, intensity of the wind, temperature of the sea, power of the sun and the waves. Also the citizens provide a constant flow of data. From these data we can extract out invisible information such as main direction of the wind during a year, average temperature of the sea and how many sunny days a year there are. Also, from the citizens we can extract out invisible information such as the percentage of bicycle users, the percentage of inhabitants doing sports, and transfer of people from the city centre to the green areas on the weekends. The knowledge acquired from these information could serve to improve the life of the citizens by understanding which areas are the most appropriated to install wind towers and photovoltaic cells, which areas the levels of humidity, sun and wind are closer to comfort levels for mankind and therefore, the city is more appropriated to expand. From these information it can also be extracted out the desirable distance from green areas to residential areas in order to encourage citizens to do more sports, improving the health of the citizens.
