The original church was half a millennium old, but unfortunately very little is left of it. The turist guides and booklets say that all possible care was used in trying to make sure the re-built church looked exactly like the original one, but that's hard to believe since the church includes now traces of barroque art that arrived in Peru AFTER the original church was built.
