The picture is taken from the terrace of a multi-story building in the central business district of Jaipur city. Various different elements of information are visible from this photo, including the urban morphology of the city, the geological features of the terrain, the types of roads and buildings of the area along with the traffic and parking information on the main road. The 'invisible information' that can be extracted out of the visible information in this photo are: 1. The travel behavior of the citizens: This can be identified from the density of vehicular and pedestrian movement along the main road at different times. The different concentrations of various modes of transport such as; private cars, public buses, bicycles and pedestrians would also help us in analyzing the commuting preferences of the populace. 2. A dynamic picture of the city can be generated by tracking the number of people visiting the central business district at different time intervals and creating a dynamic visualization of urban centers at different times. The invisible information about travel behaviors of the citizens can become knowledge by providing us the necessary data and feedback to allow redirection of traffic flows and redistribution of vehicular and pedestrian movement from areas of high concentration and density to those of relatively lower concentration.
