Provisioning Services - Singapore is a small island with limited resources. Most of the produce and water here are imports from nearby countries. To reduce the needs for water from neighboring countries, they have establish protected areas in urban rainwater catchment, and large freshwater reservoirs for retention and water supply. Regulating Services – There are few Nature Reserves and Nature areas in Singapore. The Nature Reserves houses a lot of flora and fauna. The flora and fauna are the plant and animal life of a region in a period of time and help in the balance of the ecosystem. The trees in the reserves also helps in improving the air quality within the urban areas. Habitat or Supporting Services – A rich biodiversity of animal species living in the reserves. Some critically endangered species and wild birds. Aside from the animals, different types of flora and insects can also be found here. These Nature Reserves are conserved and protected under Singapore Law. Cultural Services- There are a lot of activities and recreation within The Nature areas and Nature Reserves. From safe guided nature trail to adventure seeking hiking trails. There are also part of the reserves that houses several tourist attractions such as the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and River Safari. The Government has also built new facilities to encourage public appreciation of the reserve.
