1.The dominant fossil fuel source as shown in the Sankey Diagram is Oil(almost all of which is being imported) with a huge margin from the second one which is Coal (it is mostly produced inside the country). 2.Transport is the field with the highest energy consumption. 3.Firstly, it is high need to change from Oil to alternative energy sources. The Mediterranean Climate and long sunny season have to be exploited. Solar energy should have been on 1st place for many years but it is not.The controversial conversation about Wind Turbines and their effects on environment, still delays their massive implementation. But for solar energy systems there are no claims against except for the high cost of infrastructure. Most people already use solar water boilers for home usage, as shown in the picture too, but more and more have to become convinced. Designing buildings with better heat insulation, shading and air circulation should follow too. All the above should be translated in economical terms too. Due to the financial crisis Greece now faces, convincing people and industries through examples and scientific reports about how leaving Oil for more sustainable sources, mostly sun power, not only protects the environment but also is economically profitable could make a huge difference.Solar power systems should be installed on all roofs in the islands, especially in southern Greece, where the energy consumption is already very expensive and causes much pollutionin the sea and usually destroys the beauty of the landscape. Even the majority of traffic lights should be solar powered. Secondly for the sector of transportation the massive usage of private cars is the mayne cause of such high consumption. Moreover, except for the capital of Greece,Athens,in all other cities and villages the only public transportation provided are buses, and none of them is using electricity as energy. New buses and/transformation of the existed so as to be electrically powered together with behaviour change towards non motorized modes of transportation, especially for short distance journeys, coule be proved vital. Lastly, after providing the laternative insfrastructure and all information needed it is important to encorce law legislation about fees for inustries mostly and citizens follwing about over consumption and choosing oil and Coal as source
