From the Sankey diagram provided, the dominant fossil fuels used in India are coal, natural gas and biofuels. The dominant fossil fuels are majorly used in industrial production such as iron and steel sector, non-metallic minerals sector, and non-specific industrial sector. While a few of them are used in other non-industrial sectors such as residential and non-energy use industry sector. With respect to the Sankey diagram, it is observed that fossil fuels and oil products are used extensively for energy consumption while solar, tidal and wind energy are used in limited amount. If we continue to do so then with time the fossil fuels will become extinct and will have to depend on newer and more expensive means of energy production. Instead of this, using naturally available means of energy production such as solar power, wind, tidal energy, geothermal energy could be used to slowly and steadily to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels. The installation of these energy producing equipment is only a one time investment and the benefits are reaped for a long duration. P.S.: The images have been selected from google images.
