In today’s globalizing and ever changing era (world) using local construction activity is not enough. The need for more than local is required. The advancement of technology has led to the invention of new materials the local construction is required to take a back seat. For each city to have its characteristic identity and to generate work for the residents, a globalized downtown is highly necessary. For such a change to take place usage of new and fast paced material is the need. The image attached shows the downtown east side area of Manhattan. On close observation it is seen that almost all the buildings in the image have a glass façade and show sign of curtain wall construction system. Not just New York City but all downtown areas in cities have a characteristic building type and this defines the globalized economy of the state (city (a part for whole)).
