"Construction used to be a localised activity, but with the advancement of construction processes and construction materials almost every building contains components of a globalized economy." I understand the expression above as a description of the evolution in the fields connected to urbanization in it's full meaning. The evolution of the human and human knowledge was and always is followed by changes in people's surrounding, quality of life, lifestyle, health and activities. The response to these changes of the architectural profession has been equally clear. The more urbanization develops, the more development is needed in people's every day life. Governments invest in office buildings, airports, stations, scientific institution buildings etc. This expanding of the urban cities requires changes in theories of the building as an activity itself (for instance, houses and buildings become taller) and, of course, in building constructions and construction material. As we already know from Module 4 of this course, it is important nowadays for architects, designers and city planners to realize and understand construction and building process as an important part of the city's/nation's economy. Also, the Future City's buildings have to become cheaper not only in the meaning of financial expenses for the countries, but also become "greener" and more friendly to the environment.
