1. How would you define livability? For me, livability is the set of factors such as urban mobility, comfort, safety, hygiene, accessibility to equipment of various kinds, etc., that conforms the quality of life of the inhabitants of a certain city. 2. If you need to define livability with the following terms, how would you rank them? My list would be: 1) Environment (clean air and water). 2) Health (prevention, access and quality). 3) Housing (affordability and access). 4) Neighborhood (access to life, work and play). 5) Transportation (safe and convenient options). 6) Opportunity (inclusion and possibilities). 7) Engagement (civic and social involvement). 3. Choose three cities in the United States. I have chosen: a) New York City (State of New York). b) San Francisco (State of California). c) Detroit (State of Michigan). 4. Have a look at the livability scores. How high is the livability score of every city? Please note the scores of this question in a table like the one below. The livability scores are: a) New York City: 62 b) San Francisco: 66 c) Detroit: 47 5. How much has the livability score of every city changed? Please note the scores of this question in a table like the one below. I am sending the table too, but the results, with my ranking of terms, are: a) New York City: +1 b) San Francisco: +4 c) Detroit: +1 6. Can you explain the change in livability scores of your cities? Do this on a basis of the terms in your ranking: The customized livability score doesn´t change very much i thing. The biggest change is that i am considering the environment as the most important factor. These three cities don´t have high scores in environment, but they have in housing and neighborhood, and this two terms are very high too in my customized ranking. For me, the most important factor to make a livable city is the environment, as clean air and water, climate comfort and hygiene of the city are the most difficult factors to achieve and on which the other policies housing, integration and health, among others, are built.
