FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2017-02-24 by Santi Qirko
The photo is taken in Tirane, Albania. It shows the intersection of “Pjeter Bogdani” street and “Sami Frasheri” street. The information visible in this photo is the daytime (approximately), the weather conditions, the vegetation, the number of vehicles (moving and parked), the number of people, their gender, their age (approximately), their location (road, sidewalk, school yard) their activity (walking, driving, playing). Judging only by this picture, the invisible info that can be extracted is the percentage each activity occupies assuming that the total number of the people shown in the picture is 100%. Another info can be the ratio between the activies . If we categorize the people in two main categories: Adults , teens/children, we can use the data to show what percentage of each category is making each activity (example : Adults 60% walking, 40% driving). The percentage each activity occupies and the ratio between the activities can be compared with the ratio between the areas these activities are taking place (for example the ration between the sidewalk area and the school yard). These comparisons can help to better understand the flux and density in each area and if the space needed for each activity is enough. Nevertheless, one photo isn’t enough to make an accurate judgment.
