1. The Provisioning Service I’m mentioning in my area is called the New Croton Reservoir. The New Croton Reservoir along with the Catskill/Delaware watershed and the croton watershed provide the majority of the fresh water for New York City, it’s suburbs and metro area. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5d/Croton_Dam_spillway.jpg 2. The Regulating Service that I have in my living area is Central Park. Central Park provides valuable green space, trees, vegetation, nature, wildlife and water for the urban heat island that is Manhattan. Arguably the most valuable part of Manhattan, for it’s beauty, as well as it’s economic, real estate, health and environmental benefits. https://cdn.pixabay.com/photo/2015/11/07/11/38/central-park-1031343_960_720.jpg 3. The Habitat /Supporting Services that I’m mentioning for my living area of New York City is the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. The Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge provides a safe habitat for many different species of birds, fish, turtles, crustaceans and small mammals such as squirrels & raccoons. The Jamaica Bay wildlife refuge is also full of a variety of flora and fauna. This refuge is invaluable for the New York City area as much of the surrounding area is industrialized, residential and urban with little options for animals and wildlife to go. https://c1.staticflickr.com/8/7135/7457388084_b3298ee3fb_b.jpg 4. The Cultural Service that I will use as an example in my area is called the Highline Park. The Highline Park is a linear park built on top of elevated former railroad tracks. The “Highline” as it is referred to by locals provides many cultural, health and environmental benefits to the area. The Highline is filled with vegetation, plants, foliage, walking & exercising paths as well as numerous art and cultural exhibits all the while in the core of a major city. The views and numerous resting places provide enormous value and benefits to residents, tourists and the real estate industry. It is a beautiful place. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/58/High_Line_Park_the_new_second_section.jpg All of the pics linked were found in the public domain and were labeled for reuse.
