1.Ecosystem services in your living area a. Provisioning services: In the city of Quite we have Raw Materials; the main use is in constructions. We have forests of wood, mainly Teca and Caña Guadúa or Bamboo, dedicated exclusively to produce them. As a result many architects are interested on developing alternative construction systems based on wood and bamboo. b. Regulating services: In Quito, as we are settled on a valley in the Andes, we are surrounded by mountains, with great forests. For moderate the Local Climate and improve Air Quality we have laws that protect the forests that remain around the city, this means people cannot destroy them or try to invade them with houses. c. Habitat or Supporting services: In this section, not in Quito itself, but in Mindo, a small town 70 kilometers away, we have a great worried for the Maintenance of Genetic Diversity, is a protected area since it was declared the place with more bird biodiversity by square meter in the world. d. Cultural services: In Ecuador the tourism is the second economic activity. So we are very award of the importance of keeping our nature and environment. As I said, we have great places like Mindo, we have the Galapagos Islands, which are unique by their animals and species, many of them only exits there.
