The most important stocks and flows in Hermosillo are people, specifically migrants. Migrants are constant stocks and flows in the city, since some decide to stay and live here, while others go to other cities. Minerals like silver and gold are stocks in the city, since we have them available for extraction. Once they are extracted they turn into flows, being sold to companies all around the world. Water is an important resource, and one that is vital for survival. In Hermosillo, water functions as a stock in aquifers, but it is becoming endangered as such by the excessive use of it. It is also a flow because of the water pipes that bring water to the city from dams far away. By taking advantage of our minerals and water in a sustainable way, it is possible to increase our stock or at the very least keep it from extinction, assuring the survival of Hermosillo and its people.
