The airport of Bilbao was designed by Santiago Calatrava (the same one that has built in zone 0 of Manhatan). Calatrava is an architect who mixes the metallic structures (normally iron) with a white concrete, danod a singular aspect to each of his creations. For the city of Bilbao is very representative since when the main sector was the industry, many minerals and mines and nearby quarries were mined and processed in one of the largest villages in Spain: Barakaldo. The re-innovation of Bilbao came with the Guggenheim Museum in 1998 and from there the city has protected a major transformation from an industrial city to a city of services.
