As can be seen in this photo, there has been a large amount of space dedicated to the automobile in the City of Hartford. The people's dependency on the automobile, or presumed dependency that is, has influenced the design of the infrastructure in this city greatly. The city is no longer a pedestrian-friendly zone, and is difficult to navigate if you do not have a car.
