Even a simple perusal of items on display will show the globalization of building materials. There is cement from Mexico, tile from Italy, kitchen sinks from China, toilets made in America, etc etc. Even trying to spruce up a bathroom will have a lot of embodied energy in the items a person buys and materials chosen.
