FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2017-02-10 by Serena Zhao
This is a picture of the Bay Bridge at night in the Bay Area of California in the United States. Some of the visible information are the structures themselves - the lights, the roads and the bridge. In addition, we know that people and cars use the bridge. Some of the invisible information that could be derived would be air quality in this area and the number of cars going over the bridge per day. If we know about the air quality in this area, that could inform decisions to make the area more livable by providing evidence in support of greening projects as cities seek to re-wild or bring nature back into the urban center. In addition, if we know about the number of cars that cross the bridge, that could feed into decisions on mass transit or bike lanes as cities strive to become more walkable/bike-friendly.
