1. In South Africa, the dominant fossil fuels used are oil products (25.9 Mtoe) and coal (19.49 Mtoe). 2. These fossil fuels are overwhelmingly used in road transportation (16.38 Mtoe oil), followed by industrial uses and residential uses. 3. When developing a new energy policy, I would target two things. First, I would work to develop a more efficient mass transit system that had significant safety measures in place. I feel often times people choose to use a car rather than take the bus or train because they are afraid of crime. Second, I would investigate expanding the use of renewable wind energy, especially for residential applications.
