Provisioning services / Food: Dirceu Urban Farmlands Teresina has a 4km lenght urban farmlaind at Dirceu District. Besides being a important cultural landmark, Its cultivated by local farmes and supply food for the dense neighbourhoods in their surroundings. Regulating services / Waste-Water Treament: Rio Poty (in the picture) and Rio Parnaiba The two rivers in the city are fundamental for water supply and fishery (acting as a provisioning service), but also as regulating services, as they receive the the final effluents after preliminary treatment from the sewage system. Habitat or Supporting services / Habitats for species: Lakes The lakes in the north area of the city works as habitats and supporting services, as it homes a diversity of species that needs those wetlands to live and reproduce. Those places are habitats for fishes, small aligators, iguanas, tortoises and capybaras. Cultural services / Recreation and mental and physical health: Parque da Cidadania (Cintizens Park) The parks work as cultural services, providing recreation facilities to improve mental and physical health. Teresina has a lot of parks, but just few of them has approppriate infrastructure for recreation. A exception is the park in the picture, Parque da Cidadania, in the centre of the city.
