FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2017-02-03 by Hector Garcia L.
The long strip before the mountain is a park that was a previous airport in Quito, Ecuador. - Invisible Information We could use cameras and sensors to gather data, look for connections and have information about the amount of people going to the park. Alternatively, data from each water meter can be gathered to have information about water consumption and leak detection in real time. - Knowledge from invisible information In order to improve the quality of service and to improve the efficiency of the public water distribution system we can gather information from water meters. This information combined with applied algorithms and prediction strategies would forecast water consumption and identify leaks in real time. This would prevent water wastage and would lead to develop focused strategies to charge households and commercial consumers accordingly and dynamically to reduce the city’s and government’s high subsidies. Which, could be invested in walking towards an information city.
